Default My Project (such as it is)

I've been shooting all my life (with a slight lull in the 90's), and I've been doing film since the end of last year. I must have shot some Kodachrome in my early days, but since that was so long ago, it hardly counts.

And then, I stumble across a huge stash of it at a nearby local camera shop. 16 rolls of the stuff! With the clock running down, I decided "What the hell" and snap up 12 of 'em.

My project? I've got nothing in mind at the moment - other than 400+ photos over the next 6.5 months. I've been doing a 365 project for a couple of years now, one photo a day for a whole year - so I imagine that that'll be my project. Plus I have a couple of road trips in mind for the end of summer and the beginning of fall - that should make for some wonderful shooting.

And of course I'm trying to convince myself not to go back and get the other 4 rolls I left behind. (:

I may not have been doing it long, but I intend to go out with a bang!

Well, my first batch of slides is on its way back from Dwayne's. In the meantime, I've been slowly posting older pics up to ficker a bit at a time. And I thought I'd share with you guys some of 'em!

Oh, and I did wind up going back for those other four rolls. So I've got 16 (well, 12 now) to get through by the end of the year!

Well, my stuff came back from the lab. I threw them in the projector, marveled at them for a little bit and now it's quality time with my scanner. Here's the first one off the first roll:

Finally got around to scanning my most current batch of slides - quite a bit of work when you get four rolls back at once!

That'll be it for a little bit - I'm heading on a roadtrip down Highway 101. Hopefully my 5.5 rolls of Kodachrome hold me over!

Welcome aboard.

Nice work. You've got a good eye for composition & exposure, though many of your scans have a slight magenta or cyan cast. Never scanned my own, though, but I know it's tricky.

No doubt you'll do some good work with your remaining frames.

Cheers,

JBA

Yeah, I know that my whole Kodachrome run is going to be a learning experience - hopefully I'll get everything figured out soon enough. (Of course I'll master the scanning process JUST as I run out of film. (: )

But thanks for the complement!

Anyway, here's another couple of pics:

This one I snapped on the way down to get the remaining rolls of Kodachrome from the camera store in Tacoma. The traffic was crazy and I didn't make it before the store closed, so I stopped by the Museum of Glass and shot this lil bit of Rainier peeking up over downtown instead.

Okay, so not every photo in my 365 is inspired - or even good. Ah well - what the hell you gonna do?

Havent been around because I was down in Souther Cali shooting for a couple of weeks. Plenty of great stuff that I have to sort through and scan. We'll start off with this - not the most inspired of my photos, but I like the story:

Then:

Then Me at the Golden Gate Bridge by Great Beyond, on Flickr

(That last one isn't Kodachrome, but indulge me)

Hi Great Beyond

Terrific shots here! I think it is amazing that you have photographs of when you were younger and then matching where the shots were taken and going round up dating these images!

Any idea what film was used in the older photographs?

Have fun out there!

Cheers Chris
