I don't have a scanner but I will go to the library and just scan it there. I will surely let you all know the results! I can't wait much longer! This is really killing me!

I would just send one in LP. Try it out with an 8X10. They said that their buissness is falling and they only print two days a week now. Maybe we can all help them along.

Nice one! I've been looking forward to getting a Cibachrome / Ilfochrome print done ever since I heard about it. I am just waiting for the right picture. If I ever start selling photographs they are going to be done on Cibachrome without a doubt. A 100% optical process will look very unique in this day and age.

I agree with you. I have not ever sold a single print, but if I do, I am going to try like hell to make sure that they are all printed optically so that they will stand out from the others.

Nothing like an Ilfochrome/cibachrome print..... all I shoot is kodachrome and hand print my own cibachromes, as I learned how to do them around 1982 when I was in art school. Personally I have found them easier to do than black and white. Then again I don't shoot much B&W any more and have been doing cibas for over 25 years.

Same here! Shooting Kodachrome since 1960's and making Cibachrome
prints since that media was first available. Nothing like an 8x10 Cibachrome
print, or a Kodachrome projected on my 6'x5' Dalite screen.

Best regards,
/Clay

I am about to give them a order for a 30x40 from a black and white slide / dr5 process, shot in 120. If this looks like I think it will, I might be giving them more work...:-).

The print is going to have to sell for a few grand though...

I can't wait to see how you like it! By the way, I believe that you now have a darkroom? Freestyle sells black and white positive paper for printing black and white slides. You may want to give that a shot too.

Freestyle does indeed sell a B+W positive paper made by Efke. It is a fraction of the price of Ilfochrome. But I don't know how good it is, or whether it is any better than scanning and printing digitally. It would be worth a try, though, as it would certainly be a MUCH cheaper option for optical prints from dr5 slides.

Speaking of dr5, you've got to love it. I can't wait to get my latest slides back from them.
