Default More Kodachrome in 3-D

One of my absolute FAVORITE vintage stereo slides, presented as usual, for cross-eye viewing to see in 3D.

On the slide mount is written, "Dorseys 1957." Apparently, Mr. Dorsey has survived a mishap with a would-be William Tell, the only ill effects being the inability to judge the necessary scale of lawn furniture. I suspect the ice tea in his hand is of the Long Island variety. Mrs. Dorsey holds herself (and her cigarette) with such grace, she even makes her umbrella hat look stylish. Based on other slides of the couple, I gather they lived in a big house in New Jersey, hosted some parties that could make Don Draper forget both of his names, and mostly that I feel I truly missed out on something by never having met them. Cheers to you, Mr. and Mrs. Dorsey! And cheers to Kodachrome for making this mute encounter possible.

What a wonderful story behind this stereo pair. Thank goodness this couple had the sense to note a few details on the slides. Even with a few words a story can be woven.

Sounds like you have become an archivist for this type of media Hillary. Nice to know that someone has taken on the mantle of custodian.

Fabulous image BTW.

Glad you enjoy it, guys.

Vintage stereo slides are very precious peeks back in time and space (sorry for beating that horse again!), and I've been hooked from the time my neighbor gave me my first Stereo Realist camera and viewer. Several old slides came with that set, and viewing them was a revelation.

But I'm not the only one who collects stereo slides, as evidenced by all the ebay auctions I've lost out on! In order to share these images online, I've created a facebook page, "Vintage Stereo Slides." Anyone interested can request to join and I'll be glad to bring you onboard! IMO, it's a fascinating aspect to this history of Kodachrome.
