Default Kodachrome target

Does anyone have a spare 35mm Kodachrome IT8 target they want to sell? I'm thinking of finally getting around to scanning my slides and don't want to futz around too much by trial and error. Thanks.

Kevin

Looks like Silverfast still sells them, but at $200...wow!

I wish there were a way for me to dupe mine...

Yeah, I saw the Silverfast price and just about gagged. I was hoping someone had an extra. The good news is that I've been playing with the latest Vuescan and the scans are coming out pretty good with the pro version's default Kodachrome settings. I ordered a target from Faust and think that between the Faust IT 8 target and Vuescan's default Kodachrome conversion, I should be in good shape.

Sorry for not responding sooner. I didn't think anyone was reading.

The scans with the target and Vuescan default settings came out pretty good but to me, the originals still look better. But then again, my monitor is not calibrated so there is some error there.

I only shot a few rolls of Kodachrome in my life just before the end of it all. I've been a hobbyist photographer for some time (35 years) and must say the nostalgia of shooting those rolls of film was great. I do miss the anticipation of the wait between the shot, getting back home, sending the film off for developing, and the thrill of opening the resulting package. Sure, you have a lot more control over digital but to me the difference is between having a chef-made fine meal and a quick meal at a fast food restaurant. Anyway, when I received the Kodachomes of my fall trip to Zion National Park, I was floored. The blues were so blue, the yellows popped out at you, the reds of the walls were astounding. I knew I missed out on a lot but I was so very happy I had the opportunity to experience it and those photographs will outlive many digital photos that will perish on a crashed hard drive some day.

Since one would only need it on occasion, what about splitting the cost of a slide and sharing? That may be workable especially if the buyers are in one region, e.g. North America, Europe, etc.
